2017 Fashion Trends: hit or miss?

Okay, so I know we’re not entirely at the very end of this year, but can you guys believe it’s already the 2nd of November?!?! Where has the time gone? Can we please rewind a bit ’cause I was not ready…

So the year of 2017 has been bursting with loads of new fashion trends from some really good ones to some trends that should’ve just stayed in the fashion sketch book. Today I’m gonna go through some of these trends and see if I myself would give it a go or rather let it pass.

Everything STRIPES

I am definitely in for this one! I’ve always loved a nice striped t-shirt of some sort and some cool stripey pants. You can pair them and mix and match with so many other clothing items or accessories.

There’s just something about high-waisted striped pants that make you look so sophisticated, but still fun and quirky. And it doesn’t have to be just the plain ‘ol black and white stripes, I love when some pop of colour is added too!

The MULE shoe

Sooo this one is a hit and a miss for me, it really depends on the style of the mule shoe. I don’t love the ones that look like these:

I’m sorry, I’ve just never been a big fan of pointy toe shoes. I do like the mule shoes that have more of a modern twist on them, like these ones:

I guess the reason why this style of shoe is such a big hit is cause it’s easy to slip on and still look stylish.

We have been seeing people wear corset boots, corset sweaters, shirts, belts and jeans and I kinda like that sort of corset trend, but some people have been literally wearing actual corsets, like the ones from the Victorian times yes. I also don’t really admire the new trending corset belt.

I don’t know, it kinda reminds me of a Halloween costume… like an Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean. For me, corsets looked good in the Victorian times and when you’re wearing it as a modern Victorian corset ball gown, but lets just rather leave it there.

I actually like this trend, it’s really flattering for your body. I think especially if you’re not such a curvy gal then this swimsuit will give you the illusion of a curvy body.

Like I said, this trend is a hit cause it makes your body look even more beautiful than it already is, but if I were to wear this type of style myself, it would take a while before I would feel comfortable cause your booty is quite exposed…

Clear Plastic Shoes

These shoes have been everywhere and while the idea of it might sound cool, for me personally, the look ain’t that cool. Maybe I’m just weird, but it just doesn’t make sense to me. Some people can really pull it off, but I don’t think I would be able to haha. I don’t mind a little bit of clear plastic on the shoe, but the whole shoe?

It does give a very modernized look though.

EMBROIDERED jeans, shirts, dresses – you name it!

This trend is soooo up my street. Ugh I just love it! It can be boho chic or even rock n roll style, it depends on what print is embroidered and how it is styled and the colours used.

You’ve got some boho chic embroidered beauties:

And then you can go rock n roll style too:

You guys can probably see that I’m in love with embroidered stuff cause there’s way more photos haha – I can’t choose I love them all okayy! 🙂

♥ ♥ ♥

So I know there’s a lot more trends from 2017 that I have not touched in this post, but I don’t want to make it too long and I feel that these trends are very dominant in the fashion industry at the moment and I think most of them will be in style for quite some time – even if it goes out of style, I’d still wear it. (the ones I like)

Fashion designers and brands come up with some crazy outfits, but I feel like it’s mostly outfits that models only wear on the runways, where as the trends in this post are things that you see a lot out on the streets or so.

A little disclaimer – my opinions on these trends are entirely my own and it’s just my personal taste. If you love corsets then that’s totally fine, you go slay that corset girl! We all have different taste in style and trends and that’s what makes us unique 🙂

Hope you guys liked it!

What’s your favourite trend at the moment? Tell me in the comments!

Beauty Bucket List: Tarte Cosmetics

So, since I live in a country where we don’t really get to try the amazing Tarte Cosmetics, (and several other amazing beauty brands) I’m just gonna have to write a post about a few of their products that I hope I can one day get my hands on. Yeah sure, I can purchase them online and import them, but I ain’t no Bill Gates. I’ve entered several of Tarte’s Instagram giveaways but I’m just never the lucky winner 😦

I lovvvvvveeee makeup and I think I have the potential of becoming one of those people that have millions of makeup products, but only uses like 10 of them. Whoops.

The reason why I have chosen the American-born beauty brand, Tarte Cosmetics, is because their packaging is so gorgeous and I have watched millions of reviews on their stuff and everyone seems to be loving it. Tarte’s products come off as top notch quality with awesome formulations that don’t contain any parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and gluten.

Tarte was created in 1999 by Maureen Kelly in her NYC apartment, starting off with their first ever product, the showstopping cheek stain – how cool!? If you guys want to know more about Tarte’s history, just click on the link.

What I really admire about this beauty brand is that they’re natural, vegan-friendly and hypoallergenic. But what really ticks the box off for me, is that their stuff is 100% cruelty free – scoring major points there!

So here are a few of their products that are on my Tarte Cosmetics beauty bucket list –

rainforest of the sea water foundation

Look at all those different shades! 21 to be exact! Tarte really thought about every single skin tone out there while creating this beauty. The Rainforest Of The Sea is a water based foundation I assume as it is called a water foundation… Which I guess makes it very lightweight on the skin, but still gives full coverage while hydrating the skin and protecting it from any harmful sun rays cause it’s got non-chemical SPF 15 in it!

shape tape contour concealer

Of course I had to put this on my wishlist as well. Everybody can’t stop talking about how good this concealer is. It’s full coverage and also very blendable – as if I would know. :/ but that’s what their website claims and I’m sure that’s why everyone loves it!

tarteist ™ PRO glow highlight contour palette

Highlight and contour shades in one palette? Yes please! I just love the names Tarte gives every shade and product – so unique! In this palette you get two sculpting shades and four stunner highlights (see what I did there? ha. ha.) Using this palette will give you a gorgeous chiseled look and it’s got Amazonian clay in it!

limited-edition spellbound glow rainbow highlighter

Who does not want a rainbow highlighter?! It makes me think of a unicorn and unicorns are awesome. I just want to know how they made this multi-coloured pastel highlighter? And who came up with this awesome idea? Just look at that pretty iridescent magical pop on her cheekbones. You can spot it from a mile away!

limited-edition blush bazaar palette

5T3A2393 copy

It’s got 8 blushes, yes that’s right 8, and 2 highlighters as well! I’ve seen people hold this palette next to their head and it’s huge which means you get so much product out and it has so many shades to choose from. It’s a mix of beautiful warm tones and cool tones and I’m in love with the Moroccan inspired packaging design. If you don’t have one of these yet, you better start moving cause it’s limited edition!

tartelette™ toasted eyeshadow palette

I think this is their newest edition to their eyeshadow palette family, I am not entirely sure, but it’s perfect timing cause these colours would make the prettiest fall eye makeup looks (it’s not even fall here where I live haha), but they’re all warm toned shades. I’ve heard so many times that Tarte’s eyeshadow formulas are out of this world, super creamy and soft, super pigmented, longlasting and very much blendable. I wish I could try them myself.

tarteist™ PRO Amazonian clay palette

I’ve had my eye on this palette since it was launched and even if it is the year 2050 I’d still want it. It has such gorgeous shades, there are more cool tones than warm tones, but just think about all the looks you could create with this. 20 different shades infused with natural Amazonian clay. Sounds fancy. I like fancy.

limited-edition Rainforest of the Sea™ eyeshadow palette vol. II

Yup another eyeshadow palette cause Tarte has so many and I want them all! This cute little palette would be perfect for creating sultry smokey eye looks. I love these kind of shades!

lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara

This famous mascara has been around for over a decade and it’s another one of Tarte’s bestsellers and I can read why (not see why, cause I’ve never tried it before! grrr…) Tarte describes the mascara on their website as — “A cult classic for over a decade, this best-selling vegan mascara lengthens, curls, volumizes & conditions, acting like a push-up bra for your lashes” — I love that! It must be living up to those words cause everyone’s a fan.

arch architect brow pencil gel

I enjoy makeup products that have a 2-in-1 feature like this brow product. It has an angled pencil to shape and fill your eyebrows with precision to create a soft natural look. After that you finish it off with the clear gel end to make sure your eyebrow hairs stay in place and not embarrass you on your date. Awesome.

tarteist™ quick dry matte lip paint

They have so many different gorgeous shades and all the reviews I’ve checked about this product everyone says it has a really nice velvet feel and it doesn’t leave your lips feeling or looking like a desert, like some matte liquid lipsticks tend to do. I love LOVE these colours!

quench lip rescue

This product looks so pretty and just looking at it I can already tell that this would hydrate your lips intensely leaving a subtle colour – definitely my cup of tea. I really like all the shades and I just admire how Tarte created a different and unique package design for each colour. They really put so much love and effort into all their products.

Those are all for makeup products, but Tarte has a big variety of skincare products as well which I also want to add to my beauty bucket list:

Their skincare range looks so amazing and I’ve heard that it is amazing! I mean it’s Tarte, so of course it’ll be amazing. Everything is made with natural ingredients and also with so much love. Ugh I really wish their products were available in my country.

This is already so many of their products that I’d love to try, but if I’m gonna be honest, this is not even half of the stuff I’d love to have. If I could, I would want to own every single product they have. Is that crazy?

Well that’s it guys. All the info I got from their products and all images are from their website – tartecosmetics.com. You can purchase their products directly from their site or purchase it from Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Macy’s and some other shops probably too. They do a lot of limited editions and cool collections too.

Thanks for taking the time to read till the end!

I’d love to know what your favourite Tarte product is? – tell me in the comments!

Liebster Blogger Award

Hey Guys! I have been nominated for the Liebster Blogger Award! It is so cool knowing that someone thought of me and thought that I deserve to be nominated, so thank you so much to Sarah, from Vintage Tea Rose for nominating me! I really appreciate it 🙂

“The Liebster Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to help new blogs grow and connect with others in the blogging world.”

I encourage everyone to go check out Sarah’s blog – she writes about things related to beauty, lifestyle, style, interiors and much more! She has a great writing style unique to herself and I just love the overall layout and theme of her blog!

So what are the rules?

  • Put the award logo in your blog.
  • Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a 150 – 300 word post on your favourite blog that is not your own. Explain why you like the blog, provide links.
  • Answer your questions and provide 10 random facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 5 – 11 people that you feel deserve the award, who have less than 200 followers.
  • Ask your nominees questions.
  • List the rules

My current favourite blog:

This is quite a difficult one to answer, because there’s so many blogs I love to read, but since I’m a total sucker for all things beauty, I would say my current favourite beauty blogger is Emily Clare Beauty. From reviews on beauty products to a week in her life, autumn to-do lists and even fashion tips, Emily sure knows how to drag you in with all her posts. She has such a different writing style and it is so fun to read. If you love blogs with aesthetically pleasing flat-lay photographs or just pretty photographs in general, you should go check her photography skills out ’cause she’s slaying!

Another thing I really like from her blog, is that I noticed that most of her posts isn’t that long, which I personally love (even though I struggle with this haha) because it’s short, sweet and simple! In general she seems like a nice girl and her blog is really intriguing, you guys have to go over to her blog and see it for yourself 🙂

The answers to the questions Sarah asked me:

When you are old, what do you think children will ask you to tell stories about from your life?

I imagine by the time I am a old lady sitting on my front porch with some tea and a blanket, the world would be much different from now in terms of violence and the environment. So I guess I would tell them stories about how safe the world used to be and tell them about all my adventures in nature and seeing wildlife. I truly do hope that things don’t get that much out of hand that we would no longer have the authenticity of nature and all its beautiful creatures. (I know I sound like a treehugger, but being in nature has always been a big part of me and it would break my heart if mankind manages to destroy everything about it)

What animal would be cutest if scaled down to the size of a cat?

An elephant! Have you guys seen a baby elephant? Well imagine it being even more small – so adorable!

When did something start out badly for you but in the end, it was great?

Learning to drive and getting my driver’s license haha. I cannot express to you how much learning to drive stressed me out! I actually hated it and tried to avoid it with every chance I got, because I had some bad embarrassing experiences. My parents decided to get me into a driving school and let me tell ya, best decision ever! I learnt to drive in less than 3 weeks and got my license with the first try. Thinking back now, I can’t believe how much it made me stress and now I can drive with confidence.

What “old person” things do you do?

The only one I can think of really is going early to bed some nights.

What makes you roll your eyes every time you hear it?

When people tell me I’m really quiet and start asking if something’s wrong with me. No, nothing is wrong with me, I am just a quiet person (NOT shy – there’s a difference) in general ’cause I’m a really calm, laid-back person and I ain’t gonna go around asking noisy people why they are so loud? It’s rude. And it’s the same concept with asking quiet people why are they so quiet. I am one of those people that are quiet at first, but once I get to know you I’ll get more comfortable around you and then I’ll start being more talkative and all that. It just really irritates me when people assume something’s wrong with me, because I’m quiet. I am sure there’s many people out there that can relate to this as well.

What was cool when you were young but isn’t cool now? (but you wish still was)

Writing cute notes or love letters to your boyfriend or SO. There’s other things as well, but this is what first came to my mind.

If you could know your future, would you want to?

Yes and no. Yes, because I would want to know whether or not the career choices I am making now is gonna be successful and no, because life is one big adventure and whatever ups and downs life throws at you, you gotta grow through it. I guess I would mainly go with no 🙂

How/why did you pick your blog’s name?

I have answered this question before in a previous post, so I’m just gonna copy that answer 🙂 “I really like this question. I have chosen Blissful Boho as my blog’s name, because first of all I love anything bohemian and my personal style is actually quite boho chic. When I started my blog, I decided to write mostly about things that I find pure bliss in, hence the “blissful” part. I also wanted something that went together really nicely and that would describe me as a person.”

10 Random Facts About Me:

  1. I am 20 years old, even though I still look like a 15-year-old. I guess that’s a good thing.
  2. I actually have some royal blood in me from my father’s side. From our Irish ancestors.
  3. My mother language is Afrikaans.

  7. My parents first wanted to name me Samantha, but then they decided to go the traditional way and create a unique name out of both my grandmother’s names.

  9. I went abseiling at night with just the moonlight to guide us. It was fun but also so scary, because my foot slipped on the rocks and I went hanging in the air, struggling to get back on my feet. No one up on the edge knew what was going on down there with me, they were all just talking to each other and here I am, hanging in the air – it’s actually quite funny!
  10. I haven’t broken a single bone in my body and hopefully it stays that way.

Wow, thank you so much to Ingrid from IngridMadisonAve – I am so happy and thankful that you have nominated me! Everyone should definitely check out Ingrid’s blog, as she writes some great articles from dating and relationship tips to all things beauty and travel! And with her writing style along with her aesthetically pleasing blog layout, you can’t help but hit that follow button!

Here’s a link to her blog: https://ingridmadisonave.com/

What are the rules for The Real Neat Blogger Award?

  1. Put the award logo on your blog
  2. Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blogs
  3. Answer the 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you
  4. Nominate any number of bloggers you really like, linking to their blogs
  5. Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blogs, etc.)
  6. Ask your nominees 7 questions

So you better grab a hot cuppa or snack, because Ingrid has asked me some fun and interesting questions:

What, or who inspired you to blog?

I have always loved reading Victoria’s blog, InTheFrow – she has such a professional and sophisticated way of blogging and I have just always thought that I would love to have a blog that is as successful as her’s (but we’ll see haha). Generally, I like to write about things that make me happy and to share it with others.

What’s the story behind the name of your blog?

I really like this question. I have chosen Blissful Boho as my blog’s name, because first of all I love anything bohemian and my personal style is actually quite boho chic. When I started my blog, I decided to write mostly about things that I find pure bliss in, hence the “blissful” part. I also wanted something that went together really nicely and that would describe me as a person.

What’s your favourite season and why?

Most definitely summer! We had a really cold winter this year and where I live it gets really cold and windy and misty and gray and yeah nope, no thanks, not for me! I am a sunshine person. I like winter and fall fashion and snuggling up in a comfy blanket with hot chocolate and watching movies, but honestly I’d rather lay out in the sun with a book or just be out in nature.

If you did not have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would travel and go on roadtrips. I really love traveling and I wouldn’t mind doing it all day!

What’s your favourite piece of clothing?

A nice pair of classic denim shorts. The sort that makes your booty look amazing and show off your tanned legs.

Do you play any sports?

I finished school last year so I don’t really participate in sports that much anymore, plus here where I live there’s not much sports to actually take part in, BUT I do still workout at home. I used to play netball and do athletics in school.

What skill would you like to master?

I wouldn’t mind mastering the skill of learning a new language easily. I am currently learning German, and I don’t find it too difficult (because I had German in school for a few years), but before I tried German, I attempted to learn French. Yeah…it didn’t go too well. I just think it would be so awesome to be able to understand, write, read and speak multiple different languages!

What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?

This is a difficult question for me personally, because like I mentioned before I love traveling and going on adventures. I think one of the most amazing adventures that I would like to do one day is to go on a African expedition with a few close friends. There must be campfires and nature activities involved!

What’s your favourite drink?

I don’t really drink many sugary drinks or so, mostly water, but I do enjoy a nice ice cold Lipton lemon or raspberry ice tea on a hot summers day.

What takes up too much of your time?

Laundry. I don’t like the hanging up and folding part of laundry and because I don’t like it, it takes longer for me to do haha.

What are the small things that make your day better?

There are so many, but my top 3 things that make my day better are:

  1. When my boyfriend gives me a simple compliment or just a short phone call or even just saying “I love you”.
  2. My pup coming up to me with a wagging tail and smile – that gives me so much joy!
  3. A kind gesture from a loved one or even a stranger.

So that is all the questions! Thank you Ingrid, they were some really good questions and I really enjoyed answering them.

Now for the bloggers that I nominate:

The questions I ask my nominees are:

  1. How would you describe your blogging style?
  2. How do you motivate yourself to keep on blogging and posting good content?
  3. What would you say are the pros and cons of being a blogger?
  4. What is your top 5 hobbies?
  5. If you could choose to be any animal, what animal would you choose and why?
  6. What is your life motto or quote that you live by?
  7. What is it that you genuinely find pure bliss in?
  8. If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your younger self?
  9. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
  10. What is your most dominant personality trait?

There you have it! I know I asked a bit more than 7 questions, but I had a lot in mind that I thought would be interesting to ask. Congratulations to all the nominees and I hope you enjoy writing this post just as much as I did!

May you all have a wonderful week!

Till next time 🙂

A girl’s best friend

Usually the saying goes, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend”, well in my case I like to scratch out the diamond part and replace it with a four pawed furry friend. And if you ask me, they are wayyy better than shiny diamonds. I mean a diamond can’t give you heartwarming snuggles and smiles. IMG_0210

If you are also a animal lover, you would relate to many of these things that I’m about to tell you. Okay so, we own four Jack Russells and yes I know, that seems like a lot of dogs, but for us it really isn’t such a big deal as some people make it. We love our dogs and no matter what pet you’ve got, whether it be a dog, cat, hamster, chinchilla, bunny or hedgehog (and the list goes on), they are family.

For me, it is always such a heartwarming feeling when our dogs see us after being away from home for a while. The way they greet us with wagging tails and literal smiles (and sometimes cry’s of happiness) just makes you so happy and grateful to have such cuties in your life. Who in their right mind cannot love this?

Each one of our dogs have their own unique personalities and attitudes and that’s what makes them so special. My dog, her name is Molly, and I love and adore her with every piece of me. She is the most loveable, adorable, cuddly pup ever and she truly is a bundle of joy. BUT… she does have a big attitude as well – which makes her even more unique.

Molly: “Hmmm I wonder what’s that thingey she’s pointing at me.”

In the mornings when I wake up I have to greet her and give her loads of kisses and hugs otherwise she will literally ignore me or be unhappy with me for the rest of the day. I’m not even joking, she really does this. And don’t even dare giving more love to any of the other dogs, ’cause Molly always has to be the center of attention. I just love her!

So then there’s our other three adorable pups – Milo, Tiny and Coco. We like to refer to Milo as a Victoria Secret Dog Model, because even though she eats a lot and is healthy, she still manages to stay skinny and she’s ridiculously photogenic. She’s also not much of a bright spark, and she is the most clingiest dog you’ll ever meet.

Milo’s zen moment

She has this thing she do’s where she wants attention at the most weirdest times. When we’re cooking or having serious conversations, Milo then decides it’s the perfect time for you to pick her up, even though you already have your hands full. And she would keep doing this for quite some time. Oh and we also think she might be a alien ’cause she has big, round alien eyes. We still love her to bits!

Tiny: “I’m a mini dog so that makes me extra cute!”

You might be wondering why would anyone name their dog “Tiny”, (not very creative I know), but if you saw her you would understand why she inherited this name. It’s because she’s tiny. Have you ever seen a miniature Jack Russell? It is a very adorable sight! Tiny kinda has anxiety, and maybe it’s because she’s so small, but when she gets all stressed up, she kinda looks a bit constipated. And because she is such a stress ball, she actually does get constipated sometimes. We have tried to fix this several times, but Tiny loves to be stressed all the time apparently. Sometimes we wonder if she’s just faking it so she could get all the attention.

We like to call Coco “ou vrou” which is Afrikaans for “old lady” because she is the eldest of all four doggos. And she’s a lot older than the other three, she’s Milo’s mother actually. That is where Milo gets her “not so bright” intelligence from, from her mama. Coco has been with us for many years now and along the way we have had to pay many visits to the veterinarian, but despite being 12 years old, Coco is still full of life and love! She likes to talk to us by making these weird, but cute noises and we make the noises back at her and then she’d do it again.

My name’s Coco, and I like sky raisins.

We love all of our dogs so much and their basically like our children, well Molly is my fur baby (P.S. Molly has her own Instagram account – go check it out @mollythegreatrussell).

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Some people may think why would you write a post entirely about your dogs, because their just dogs, but dogs are family, any pet is family. I just wanted to share with you guys about how much I love our dogs and just tell you why they are so special.

Hope you guys smiled while reading this – till next time! 🙂

My Skincare Routine

Hey everyone!

I am so excited to write about my skincare routine, because having a good routine has always been very important to me. I have had some major skin problems a few years ago, so I have had my fair share of different skin products, but luckily for me my skin has calmed down a bit and it’s lookin’ good. I do still get breakouts and blemishes, but it has improved so much!

My skin type usually ranges from normal to combination, so a try to use products made specifically for this skin type – and it is always good to know what skin type you have to get the right products and routine for you, because we’re all different 🙂

So, I have rounded up a skincare routine that I find works good for my skin at the moment, hopefully it doesn’t change too soon.

M O R N I N G  R E G I M E ♥

morning 1

In the mornings I like to keep it simple and basic, as my skin is not that dirty, because I did have a good scrub before going to bed the night before. I have been using Sorbet’s Hydro Skin 3-in-1 Foam Cleanser for quite a while now, because it is really good! It’s very light on the skin, but still cleanses thoroughly. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, Omega 3 & 6 and vitamins A & E – all the good stuff! My skin feels a lot more hydrated since I’ve started using it.

morning 2

Next up I balance my skin’s pH levels with the Yardley Oatmeal Purifying Toner. This toner is specifically formulated for oily to combo skin and is quite strong so I only like to use it in the mornings, plus it gives you a refreshing feel!

morning 5

Okay, so the next product I’m gonna talk about has changed my life! That is my friends, the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream of course. Let me tell you, this moisturiser is amazing for very, very, veryyyyy dry skin. It’s winter time here where I live and always at the start of the chilly months my skin gets really dry, but this time it was so much more dry and I tried so many things and remedies just to help it, but nothing would work. My forehead would be so flaky (gross I know) and I couldn’t wear any foundation ’cause I would look horrible, until one day I decided to try the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream and I honestly do not regret making that choice.

morning 3

It didn’t take long before the magic tricks of this moisturiser started kicking in and now I have soft and moisturised skin and I can put on foundation without my forehead looking like a dried up desert pan. After I have applied the three basic essentials to anyone’s skincare routine, I use The Body Shop’s Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Eye Cream-Gel underneath my eyes to help for any dark circles and puffiness.

morning 4

E V E N I N G  R E G I M E ♥

evening 1

By the end of day your skin is dirty and full of make-up or you might have touched your skin a lot throughout the day (which is not good) so that is why it’s always a good idea to have a little bit more steps added to your routine in the evenings than in the mornings to really get rid of all the yucky stuff on your face.

I have just recently started using the L’ORÉAL Pure Clay Detox Wash and I am totally loving it. I use the one with the charcoal, because charcoal draws out impurities and clarifies the skin so it really gives it a nice thorough cleanse – which you need after a long day. It smells so good and I can definitely see a improvement in my pores, they don’t look like the craters on the moon anymore 😀

evening 2

After that I go in with the L’ORÉAL Skin Perfection Serum and using their pure clay detox wash along with the serum actually makes for a good combo. The serum is light so it doesn’t clog your pores and in fact, it shrinks your pores even more. I like to apply it at night time, because when I go to sleep my skin will really reap the benefits of this product and that’s also why I only use it in the evenings.

evening 4

Of course I then apply my trusty Cetaphil Moisturising Cream after, as well as The Body Shop Eye Cream-Gel. If I do have any spots or blemishes I would treat them with the Neutrogena On-The-Spot Acne Treatment and the next morning the blemishes would be a lot smaller and a lot less red and sometimes, if I’m lucky, they would be gone entirely.

evening 6

So you probably wondered what’s that blue thingey in the first picture of my evening regime. Well, that is the face brush I use when I wash my face with the Sorbet Hydro Skin Foam Cleanser and the L’ORÉAL Pure Clay Detox Wash.

brush 1

It is by Sorbet and is called the Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser. It comes with 3 different detachable little brushes – a silicone one with short, soft bristles that works great for sensitive skin, a brush with like normal (I don’t know how else to describe it sorry) soft bristles that’s very compact and you can use it daily and then of course an exfoliating brush with longer and fluffier bristles. It comes with an USB charger so you don’t have to spend extra money on batteries.

brush 2

Do you remember when facial cleansers were all the rage, especially the Clarisonic one? Well, if you’re like me and you like to bargain here and there, this Sorbet Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser is a great alternative for the Clarisonic facial cleansers. It is much more affordable AND it still does an amazing job! And it’s blue!

occasional 1

Once a week a will use a scrub/exfoliator, because exfoliating at least once a week is essential and necessary to make sure all the dead skin is gone, because otherwise your pores might get clogged and we all know clogged pores leads to breakouts! I have been using the Garnier PureActive Intensive Charcoal Scrub for a good amount of time now to confess that it’s a great product! And because I use it once a week only, I hold out with it for a long time.

It has charcoal and salicylic acid in it and every time I use it my skin feels super soft and looks great the next day. This scrub smells so good, but don’t get it in your eyes though…well you shouldn’t get any product in your eyes for that matter.

Now, I am a big fan of face masks and it’s probably one of the hardest decisions to make when it comes to choosing a face mask. I love to do DIY face masks, and I have this one miracle worker mask recipe that I might share with you guys one day. Usually I would lean towards something that has a clay base, because I have combo skin it really helps for the oiliness and draws out impurities, so I have been loving the Freeman Mint & Lemon Clay Mask. It makes my skin feel so refreshed and super clean, but make sure to moisturise properly, because sometimes clay masks can be drying.

That is it for my current skincare routine! All of the products I use for my routine are products and brands that I genuinely love using and that really makes my skin happy!

My first trip to the USA

When we were first told that we are going on a trip to the United States of America, me and my mom were ecstatic! This would be our very first time flying over the vast waters of the Atlantic to another country faaaar from home. After months of planning, preparing and saving, the day finally came for us to start our fun adventure.

25 hours in the air has passed and we were finally welcomed into Orlando. We got our rental car and started our first drive on the American roads. Big, bright and bold buildings and big Chevvy trucks and Mustangs. EVERYWHERE.

That evening we tried to not let the jet lag get to us, but after our quick trip to grocery stores, we just could not resist the calling of our beds. We probably woke up at like 5 o’clock the next day and started to plan our itinerary and for our official first day, we decided to kick things off at Seaworld. Here I tasted my first American hamburger – yum!

New Image 1Orlando is home to one of biggest and most magical park in the world. So yes, our trip to Orlando would not have been completed without going to Disneyland.IMG_0257Magical. Beautiful. Astonishing. The place where dreams are made. Going to Disneyland for 5 days straight and visiting each individual park is each kid’s biggest dream and let me tell ya, I definitely felt like a little kid again. Seeing the place where all my favourite animated movies and characters come from was so fun, but I think the highlight for me was seeing the castle from Magic Kingdom. Wow.

IMG_0254Of course we had to try out all the rides (…well not ALL of them, because there’s literally sooo many), we watched one of the parades, ate some churros and just had one heck of a time.IMG_0286

We were fortunate enough to have been able to spend our New Year’s Eve at the Epcot park. We were aiming for Magic Kingdom, but when we got to the gates, they said that the park had already reached its limit of visitors. Who could ever have imagined?! BUT… Epcot did not disappoint! Each little “country” had their own unique restaurants and shops and music. We danced our way through the night in China until literally everyone started the countdown for the new year. What a great way to start 2016.

We arrived in Orlando just a few days after Christmas so Disneyland still had festive decorations everywhere, which made it so special and gave it that extra nostalgic feeling.

20160106_122031Orlando has so much to offer so it was really difficult to choose what we wanted to do, because we came from so far away, we wanted to try everything. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and Wonderworks made it onto the “must visit” list.

I would highly recommend Ripley’s, because it was such an interesting and educational experience. Wonderworks and Ripley’s are quite similar, except you can play laser tag and climb like a monkey on a rope obstacle course at Wonderworks.

We were all a bit sad when the last day in Orlando had come, but we made sure to spend the day at Universal Studios. People would think Disneyland and Universal Studios are very similar, but they really are both unique and very different from each other.

Universal Studios is more of a grown up version from Disneyland I would say, but both attractions are awesome! If you are planning a trip to Orlando, make sure you save enough money to visit both Disneyland and Universal Studios – you will not regret it!

Orlando is jam packed with fun filled adventures and where I come from, it was an amazement to see all these shops, activities, attractions and buildings that are built like a mermaid or Mickey Mouse. It is true what they say, everything is bigger and better over there. And yes, we did pay some visits to Walmart and Target, otherwise it would not have been a true American experience.

At the airport we prepared ourselves for a 4 hour flight to…(drum roll please) New York City! In all honesty, I still can not believe that I have been to the Big Apple. It’s almost 2 years later and it still seems so unreal.

NYC is a complete different place to Orlando. The people are different, the food’s different, the vibe’s different. I definitely left a piece of me in NYC. If any of you are planning to go there soon, I’d make a great travel partner!

Just saying.

We stayed at the Belvedere Hotel, which I would recommend to anyone. Located in Manhattan, the Belvedere Hotel is close to Times Square, loads of restaurants, shops theaters and many other famous attractions. They introduced is to the “hop-on-hop-off” tour buses and because we only had 3 full days in NYC, we decided that the buses would be the best choice to see the most of NYC – and did we see a lot!

We were lucky enough to see most of the famous attractions of this breathtaking city. I was in awe of the beautiful, big chapels all around the city. All the buildings are so historical and breathtaking. We took a little tour on a water taxi on the Hudson River and got to see The Statue of Liberty. We were freezing our butts off in New York, but unlucky for us the snow did not make an appearance.

We definitely ended our trip to the USA on a high note…literally. We went to see the broadway show, Chicago.

I think I didn’t blink once during the show. I cannot put into words how amazing it was – it was right there where I put “become a broadway star” on my dreams list. It is most definitely worth it to splurge a little on a good broadway show.

After spending 2 amazing weeks in a country were everything was so different from home, we were ready for the long flight back to where we came from.

Wow this sure is one lengthy blog post, but it just was one amazing experience and I hope I could help anyone who’s planning a trip to Orlando and NYC with some recommendations. Me and my mum had such a fun time and we are very fortunate to have gone on this trip. Hopefully I will be able to this again one day.

Hope you guys enjoy this post & I apologize for some bad quality photos!

Say yes to new beginnings.

I have always imagined having a blog and writing these posts with perfectly picked out words and aesthetically pleasing pictures, but I never really put this “thought” into action.

That is all it really was – a “thought”…until like 5 days ago when I just randomly searched for “how to begin a blog” and came accross WordPress.

WordPress makes starting a blog so easy and convenient so I thought to myself, why not give it a go? I mean I do love to write and to take pretty pictures, so why not? So here I am, writing my first blog post.

I have decided to write about beauty, travel and lifestyle and anything creative on Blissful Boho. Of course I hope my blog would be just as amazing as In The Frow one day, but for now I am just gonna take it it slow and see how things go.

So that is why I have started a blog, simply because I love to write about things I love and I want to share it with people who share the same interests 🙂
